Riesling / Gewurztraminer 2011
The 2011 vintage on the K1 estate was one which led to the prime production of these early harvested white varieties, with crisp acid levels supported by an intense flavour profile.
The varieties of Riesling and Gewurztraminer complement each other favourably and this blend can be commonly found throughout Europe. Riesling is a variety that flourishes in a cooler climate, with strong citrus notes and a lean acid backbone; while the Gewürztraminer adds a floral sweetness and finesse to this attractive white.
Bright, perfumed aromas of zesty lemon, lychee and jasmine, characteristic of these two varieties, greet you on the nose. These flavours follow through onto the palate, with intense citrus characters and hints of rose water up front and a crisp green apple, off-dry finish.
Drink now, or wait and see how this little gem develops with some age. The combination of floral characters with crisp acid means that this wine is the perfect complement to many Asian dishes, or a smoked salmon gravlax.
